Copyright Policy

Last updated: August 2, 2026

Your Copyright Ownership

At Online Book Publish, we believe authors should retain full control of their creative work. When you use our formatting or design services, you keep 100% of the copyright to your manuscript, book, and all associated content — always.

What This Means for You

As the copyright owner, you retain the exclusive right to:

  • Reproduce and distribute your work in any format
  • Create derivative works based on your content
  • License or sell rights to publishers, producers, or others
  • Authorize translations or adaptations

Our Role

We are a service provider, not a publisher or rights holder:

  • We provide formatting, design, and publishing-preparation services
  • We never acquire ownership rights to your work
  • We never claim any portion of your royalties
  • We’re here to help bring your book to market, not to hold any stake in it

Copyright Basics

Your work is automatically protected by copyright the moment it’s created in fixed form. Formal registration (e.g. with the U.S. Copyright Office, for U.S. authors) provides additional legal protections, such as the ability to pursue statutory damages in infringement cases — this is optional but worth knowing about.

ISBN vs. Copyright

An ISBN is not a copyright protection — it’s simply an identifier for a specific edition/format of your book in commercial distribution. Copyright protects the actual creative content. The two serve different purposes.

Website Content Copyright

Content on the Online Book Publish website (text, graphics, logos, images) belongs to Online Book Publish. You’re welcome to view, reference, and share links to it — but please don’t reproduce, republish, or reuse it commercially without permission.

Portfolio and Marketing Use

With your separate, explicit permission, we may feature your book cover, title, and author name in our portfolio or marketing materials. This is:

  • Entirely optional and requested separately from our main service agreement
  • Revocable at any time
  • Never a transfer of any ownership rights
  • Limited strictly to promotional use

Third-Party Content in Your Work

If your manuscript includes quotes, images, or other material created by someone else, you’re responsible for:

  • Confirming you have the rights or permissions to use it
  • Properly attributing quoted or referenced material
  • Following fair use guidelines where applicable

By submitting your manuscript, you confirm you have the rights to all content included and agree to hold Online Book Publish harmless from third-party copyright claims related to your submitted content.

DMCA Notices

If you believe content on our website infringes your copyright, please send a notice including:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work and the infringing material
  • Your contact information
  • A signed statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized

We will review valid notices promptly and take appropriate action.
